In 5th grade we focus on many different social skills. The largest componenet of the 5th grade social studies standards is history. We cover our history up until the 1800's. With a heavy focus on the American Revolution. As a social studies teacher, I urge students to relate to all portions of history so that we can become educated and informed citizens that will have a positive impact on our world. We also work on economics, citizenship, government, geography, and critial thinking skills.
